The winner of the competition: New vision for the Lausitzer Platz

Der Lausitzer Platz, ein wichtiger Treffpunkt und Identifikationspunkt für die Nachbarschaft in der Nähe des Görlitzer Parks, soll neu gestaltet werden. The winner of the competition: New vision for the Lausitzer Platz

The Lausitzer Platz, an important meeting point and identification point for the neighborhood near the Görlitz park, is to be redesigned. After a two-phase open space planning competition, the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living and the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district office announced the winners. The first prize went to the WES Landscape Architecture office with prize money of 23,000 euros, followed by the second prize to BBZ landscape architects Berlin and the third prize to BGMR landscape architects. Two recognitions were also awarded.

District City Councilor Annika Gerold praised the work of the 1st winner for taking into account the diverse claims for use and creating a robust framework for new activities. The work of the winning team was also praised by the expert Prof. Laura Vahl because she solves the current problems of the square and open up new development opportunities. The implementation of the project is planned for 2025, whereby the financing is initially carried out by the Berlin places.

The competition work will be exhibited from May 7th to May 17th, 2024 in the new town house in Berlin Mitte and are open to the public. The exhibition is free of charge, barrier -free and easily accessible by public transport.
