Senior week in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg: digital and active!

Pauline-Staegemann-Straße 6, 10249 Berlin, Deutschland - The city library Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg invites you to this year's 51st Senior Week from June 22nd to 29th, 2025. As part of this event, a diverse program is offered that includes movement training, memory promotion as well as topics such as artificial intelligence and gaming. The aim of the week is to activate older people and promote their digital participation, one aspect that is becoming increasingly important in an increasingly digital world. As reports on June 23 with a digital consultation in the Friedrichshain district center "Pauline", in the individual consultations eBook readers, smartphones and laptops are offered.

On June 24th, senior citizens can take part in various events at the Wilhelm Liebknecht / Namik Kemal. Seat gymnastics are planned to promote blood circulation and muscle building as well as a holistic memory training with creative exercises. In addition, a lecture by the Prinzenstraße nursing base about "forgetfulness, dementia, Alzheimer" is offered, in which information on signs, diagnostics and everyday strategies is provided. Registration is informally possible by email or by phone.

digital inclusion as the key to participation

The digital participation of senior citizens is becoming increasingly important, since many older people feel overwhelmed by new technologies and run the risk of losing connection. Digital technologies can, however, offer opportunities to simplify communication, access to health information and active participation in social life. This underlines the relevance of events such as the senior week. Studies show that active digital participation has a positive impact on well-being and cognitive performance of older people, as Explicit is mentioned

The challenges include fear of contact with new technologies, physical restrictions and the lack of age -appropriate training offers. These aspects make it necessary to promote barrier -free technologies in addition to digital training, the seniors make access easier. As described , larger font sizes, intuitive user interfaces and voice controls are central elements that support digital inclusion. Access to digital offers must be designed for older people to ensure their autonomy and participation.

On June 25th, the Central Office for Prevention of LKA Berlin provides information about “Living safely” about “Living in old age” by addressing fraud stitches and protective measures for older people. Another highlight follows on June 26 with the event "Coffee, Book and Ki", where the functioning of artificial intelligence is discussed. The participants should bring their cell phones while laptops are made available to give them direct access. The gaming afternoon on June 27th also offers the opportunity to try video games on Nintendo Switch or PlayStation.

Admission to all events is free, but registration is recommended for various offers. This can also be done by email or by phone. Contact for further information is possible via the email: press@ba-fk.berlin.de or phone: (030) 90298-2843. The senior week therefore not only offers the possibility of taking information, but also for integration into an increasingly digital society.
