Sustainable market for future: upcycling and workshops in Berlin
District Mayor Clara Herrmann announced that the first “Markt for Future” will take place in the garden behind the Pablo Neruda district central library. In this market, which revolves around sustainability, small monster figures and old bicycle hoses are made from old T-shirts. In addition, visitors in the sewing café can change or repair their clothes. There will also be information about why sustainable handling of clothing is important.
The market takes place on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and admission is free. The address is the garden behind the district central library Pablo Neruda, Frankfurter Allee 14a, 10247 Berlin.
For children's day there are special programs for the little visitors, including the children's theater piece "hanged away" from the Nimu Theater, games from the library of things, various stories and a course for environmental education.
This market is not only an opportunity to acquire sustainable products, but also to find out about topics such as upcycling and sustainable fashion. It also offers visitors a practical way to actively work for sustainability.
In today's world, in which environmental protection and sustainability are becoming increasingly important, it is gratifying to see that initiatives such as the “Markt for Future” are launched in order to strengthen awareness of sustainable action.
