Millions of funding for art quarters Bethanien in Kreuzberg!
The Kunstquartier Bethanien on Mariannenplatz in Kreuzberg receives funding of five million euros for sustainable and historical renovation. The funds come from the "Kulturinvest 2024" program of the Bundestag, which supports investing measures to renovate cultural institutions with a total -state relevance.
District Mayor Clara Herrmann emphasized the importance of the art quarter for the culture in Kreuzberg and beyond. The funding commitment recognizes the comprehensive range of Bethania, which appeals to various target groups. The planned renovation aims to maintain the unique (socio-) cultural infrastructure and to open up new areas for art and cultural workers.
The Kunstquartier Bethanien has developed into a national center for art, culture and socio -culture since the 1970s. It houses various cultural institutions and initiatives that shape social life in Kreuzberg.
The district office Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg is working on another funding application to show how culture, monument protection and climate protection can be combined.
