Reading in the focus library: Mohamed Choukris The naked bread in focus

District Mayor Clara Herrmann announced that the German-Moroccan author and filmmaker Mohamed Nabil as well as the singer and actress Melanie Stahlkopf at the Wilhelm Liebknecht / Namik Kemal focus from the book "The Naked Bread" by Mohamed Choukri will read. The event will take place on Thursday, April 18 at 8 p.m. and admission is free without prior registration.

Mohamed Choukri, a Moroccan writer who came to the port city of Tanger as the son of poor Berber farmer and led a life full of defenses there, wrote his autobiography "The naked bread" in 1972. Although the book was banned in Arabic due to its openness and radicality in 1982, it is a classic together with its continuation "time of mistakes" World literature. Choukris works have been translated into almost 40 languages, and he is considered one of the most famous writers Morocco who died in 2003

The event offers visitors the opportunity to deal with an important work in world literature and to gain a new perspective on the life and experience of the author. Through the reading and interpretation of the texts of Nabil and Stahlkopf, Mohamed Choukri's work is brought to life and can be experienced in a new way.
