On June 6, 2024, the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district office offers a special tour, which is led by the lawyer and legal historian Ralf Oberndörfer. The tour should remind of the importance of the European Union as a peace project and focus on May 8th as the day of liberation. This day marks the end of the Second World War in Europe and symbolizes the liberation from the National Socialist regime, which led a murderous war from Berlin.
The meeting point for the tour is the main entrance of the America memorial library at Blücherplatz 1 in 10961 Berlin. The route leads over Mehringplatz and Friedrichstrasse, with short elimination to Wilhelmstrasse, and finally ends at the Checkpoint Charlie. The tour takes a total of about 90 minutes and is free of charge. Interested parties must register by June 4 at the e-mail address klima_und_internationales@ba-fk.berlin.de.
