Despite a planned partial opening this summer, the population must continue to do without bathing pleasure. The reason for this lies in the lack of financing that stops the necessary renovation work. Currently, 1.4 million euros have already been invested in the partial renovation, but it is not yet clear how much money is needed as a whole to be able to use the outdoor pool again. The renovation of the bank area, which is intended to ensure a safe swimmer experience, was postponed to 2030.

The outdoor pool was closed six years ago after the water level had dropped sharply. The flat beach area is no longer usable due to the low level, while the steep waste into the water is dangerous for non -swimmers. While bathing remains prohibited, the boat rental should open again in the near future, possibly as the first measure to revive the leisure activities on the ostrich water.

A small celebration for the 100th anniversary of the outdoor pool is planned for July 26 of this year. In addition to the celebration, there will be guided tours across the site to honor the long history of the seaside resort. The outdoor pool was originally opened on June 20, 1925 with extensive celebrations and demonstrations, which also included the first large show swimming of the swimming club "Welle" on June 28, 1925. At that time, 350 athletes already took part in this event.

The history of the outdoor pool is shaped by many striking events. After the Second World War, the once damaged bathing establishment was restored, and in 1972 the old wooden tower, which was demolished due to the risk of accidents, was replaced by a stable steel scaffold construction. To date, the seaside resort is shown in large trains in the original dimensions of 1925, even if there were some changes over time. For example, there is no more boathouse.
