Evangelical Academies: New Position Paper for Society and Democracy
an innovation of great importance: The Evangelical Academies in Germany have released a sensational position paper! This groundbreaking document entitled "Discourse culture and political education. The Evangelical Academies in a time of transformation" was published today and summarizes the results of a year -long discussion process. It is a powerful call to update the role of academies in a changing social and political environment.
Udo Hahn, the chairman of the umbrella organization "Evangelical Academies in Germany e. V." (EAD) and director of the Evangelical Academy Tutzing, emphasizes: "Evangelical academies are a visible and effective expression of church responsibility for society and democracy." Your mission? The Evangelical Academies were founded to organize social discourses and to bring Protestant perspectives into the social debate. They should use controversy as opportunities and thus make a sustainable contribution to democratization - and that remains up to date!

The new paper specifies the order of the academies in three concise chapters. It shows how they position themselves in relation to the Evangelical Church and the current inner church transformation processes. They are determined to strengthen the democratic culture on site, especially where right -wing extremist threats can be felt.
The position paper also presents nine impressive examples from the practice of academies. These illustrate how the principles in different regions of Germany are concrete. Dr. Friederike Krippner, director of the EAD and director of the Evangelical Academy in Berlin, emphasizes: "With around 1,700 events we reach over 50,000 people a year." A clear signal: The Evangelical Academies are civil society actors with which in the future!
A special focus is on the address of young people: 20 percent of the participants are under 27 years old - a significantly higher proportion compared to the total population. \ “We are continuously developing exciting formats for young people \,” says Ole Jantschek, Federal Tutor of the Evangelical Corporal Group for Socio -Political Youth Education.
