A new chapter in Antwerp: A&O opens the first hotel in Belgium!

On November 1, the pulsating city of Antwerp will be richer for an exciting attraction! The a&O Antwerp Centraal opens its doors and brings a breath of fresh air to the hotel landscape of the Belgian metropolis. With 133 rooms and amazing 516 beds this hotel will be a linchpin for travelers from all over the world.

The history of the hotel begins with the acquisition of a former budget, which was known until recently under the name "Century Antwerp". For the modernization of the nine -story building in the Pelikaanstraat, 4 million euros are planned by 2025. And the best? It is located directly opposite the impressive main train station in Antwerp - a perfect starting point for all city travelers!

The expansion of the a & o hostels is not to be stopped! Antwerp is already the 41. Location in 11 European countries. "Antwerp is a real Stadtjuwel ," enthuses Oliver Winter, the founder and CEO of the company. "From our location you can explore the city wonderfully on foot or by bike." The chance to open more hotels in Belgium is also large - Brussels is already on the wish list!

The demand seems unbroken, because in 2023 2.7 million guests have already visited a & o hotels. In the first half of 2024, the number of overnight stays rose to almost three million!

With a clear focus on sustainability, A&O is pursuing an impressive strategy: by 2025, CO2 emissions per night should be reduced to under three kilograms! The CO2 footprint is already only 3.73 kilograms . This makes A&O on the best way to become the first European hostel chain that can bear the title "Net Zero".

Antwerp itself is an ideal place for this expansion: With a population of around 550,000 people and the second largest seaport in Europe, the city is a real magnet for tourists from all over the world. Visitors can enjoy the rich architecture and history of the city and go on a journey through time through various epochs in European art history.
