Nutrition industry demands top compensation for gas: criticism of lack of relief in energy costs

growth initiative: nutritional industry demands top compensation for gas

The Federal Government has today decided on the "growth initiative - new economic dynamics for Germany". While the energy -intensive nutritional industry welcomes the proposed measures for a powerful energy market, it criticizes the lack of a follow -up regulation for the top compensation for gas that has been eliminated since January 1, 2024.

The manufacturing processes in the nutritional industry often require large amounts of process heat, which has so far been largely generated by natural gas. The industry calls for a reintroduction of the top compensation for gas, since green hydrogen is currently not available in sufficient quantities and at competitive prices. Although the Federal Government has already achieved a noticeable relief due to the permanent lowering of the electricity tax, the growth initiative lacks a connection regulation for top compensation for gas, which has been anchored in the Energy Tax Act for more than two decades.

The nutritional economy has not yet been part of the favorite group of electricity price compensation, although it is energy -intensive, commercially intensive and at risk of migration. Therefore, the industry is calling for an expansion of the energy costs to compensate to all sectors entitled to claim.

to promote the climate -friendly conversion of Germany's business location, a stable and competitive energy supply is required. The permanent lowering of electricity tax should ensure planning and investment security for the manufacturing trade. The announced review of the network charges and the introduction of time -variable network charges are a correct and urgently required approach, which must follow as soon as possible.

The Federal Association of the German Nutrition Industry e. V. (BVE), The Federal Association of German Confectionery Industry e. V. (BDSI), The German Mälzerbund e. V. (DMB), The German Association of Hefer Industry e. V., the Ovid Association of Oil Sowing Processing Industry in Germany e. V. and the association of grain, mill and strength economy VGMS e. V. support these demands.
