Germany on the top position: European champion in oil seed processing!

Hard to believe, but true: Germany has developed into the undisputed number one in Europe when it comes to processing oil seeds! Last year, an incredible 49.7 million tons of oil seeds sailed through the European oil mills. Our nation alone contributed 13 million tons - that is a whopping 26 percent! Here, domestic rapeseed processing is particularly worth mentioning: a total of 9.5 million tons of rapeseed were processed in German oil mills. This means that every third rapeseed trap in Europe started his journey!

While Germany shines as the heart of the European oil mill industry, there are dark clouds on the horizon. Despite these impressive figures, the industry is faced with massive challenges that seriously put competitiveness and future security in danger. Ovid President Jaana Kleinschmit von Lengefeld sums it up: “We face huge challenges!”

falling profits due to high energy costs!

The high energy costs are the real killer for the production capacity of the oil mills at the moment. The prices not only put a strain on the management of companies, they also endanger Germany's market position in international competition. Additional stress comes through the increasingly complicated bureaucratic hurdles that make life difficult for companies.

the more urgent it becomes that concrete political measures are taken! In her latest position paper "Oil change now!" Requests to Ovid as soon as possible effective support for the energy -intensive industry. The call is clear: companies need help in order not only to be able to survive in international competition, but also to get on a more environmentally friendly way. The field is set and the demands are unmistakable!

set the course for the future!

The oil mills require extensive support to put the transformation into practice. What is missing are clear political course that enable companies to develop and introduce climate -friendly and energy -efficient technologies. This is the only way to keep Germany's top European position, but also set the course for a sustainable future.

It remains to be seen whether those responsible will hear the urgent appeal and implement it. One thing is certain: the clock ticks and the time for change is now!
