Refurbish your own home: Study shows knowledge gaps and a need for action

alarm level red with the home owners! A shocking survey among over 2,000 homeowners promotes dangerous knowledge gaps. The initiative of climate -neutral Germany (IKND) and the representative dance of transparent building envelope (RTG) clearly show: Unknow to the energetic state of their houses and the confusion of political debates make many homeowners hesitate to renovate their real estate efficiently. Time is pushing and the first measures are essential!

The shock: The current study makes it clear that the renovation rate is at an alarming low level. Dissatisfied owners and the turbulent political discussion about the building energy law promote the dilemma. "The financing of the measures must be improved for 70 percent of non-fanners, otherwise everything remains the same," warns Thomas Drinkuth, head of the RTG. Germany urgently needs a renovation boost to help the construction industry and climate protection!

renovation as the key to success

Homeowners now have to renovate their buildings climate -friendly! The building sector is responsible for a whopping 40 percent of CO2 emissions in this country. If Germany wants to achieve its climate goals, the renovation quota urgently needs to be worked on. "We are in duty to close the information gaps and motivate the owners", warns Carolin Friedemann from the IKND. This is about more than just heating costs - it's about our planet!

Economic and ecological pressure go hand in hand: higher heating costs and the CO2 prize make an energetic renovation inevitable. But what do the owners say? You are calling for stable conditions and clear information from the government! "The message must be clear: energetic renovation - the way to the safe building of the future!"

Politics as a duty!

The results are unmistakable: politics must act now! Attractive funding, which is specially tailored to the needs of homeowners, is needed. The same applies to more support and clear advice. Integrated advice centers are required here that accompany homeowners through the entire renovation process.

The uncertainties due to the debate about the building energy law must not continue to stop the necessary renovations! "We have to regain the trust of the owners - local advice must be expanded!", according to the experts. Only together can we achieve drastic improvements!

Time is urged and committed measures are now needed - climate protection is not waiting!
