Sports clubs and organizations are invited to submit proposals for possible award winners by Tuesday, September 30, 2025. The medal is awarded in three awards: bronze, silver and gold. The winners are selected by an independent jury that carefully evaluates the submitted proposals.

The medal is named after Dieter Braunsdorf, an outstanding sports official who was committed to sports in Reinickendorf for decades. Braunsdorf was chairman of the sports committee for 16 years and was also an honorary member of the Tegel Rowing Club.
