The article deals with the failure of the purchase of the Tennet electricity network due to the federal budget problems and the need for a reform of electricity market design and the EEG. The Federal Association of Renewable Energy is calling for clever and investment -oriented decisions to make Germany future -proof. A reform could bring savings, reduce energy prices and promote the expansion of renewable energies. A quantity -based protection of the EEG and the expansion of flexible consumers and producers are also required. EEG reform for future-proof electricity market: Tennet current network purchase failed, negative prices on electricity exchanges are increasing

The purchase of the Tennet electricity network failed due to the federal budget problems, times with negative prices on the electricity exchanges increase and the expansion of flexible consumers and producers is progressing too slowly. The Federal Association of Renewable Energy (BEE) therefore again speaks for a rapid reform of the electricity market design and the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG). According to BEE President Simone Peter, the failed purchase of the Tennet electricity network shows how close the financial corset of the current budget is. In order to make Germany future -proof, clever decisions with foresight and a sense of proportion would have to be made. Infrastructure and sustainable technologies would need investments to secure the location.

Since December, the BEE has been waiting for the option paper on the "Plant -neutral electricity system platform" (PKNS), which should develop a proposal for a new electricity market design. In the meantime, the faults in the current electricity system increase and burden the household, industry and consumers. According to Simone Peter, the ball lies with the Federal Chancellery, which should now finally present a draft that recognizes the system -setting role of renewable energies. A reform of market design and EEG would advance savings, reduce energy prices and at the same time promote the expansion of renewable energies.

The BEE has been warning of structural faults by the 20-year EEG protection for years, which are associated with the increasing proportion of renewable energies. Instead, the association proposes the switch to an electricity -based security system. The prices on the electricity exchanges were below zero last weekend alone in 20 hours. On the one hand, this shows the price-lowering effect of renewable energies, but burden the federal budget and affect the economy of renewable projects. EEG reform could reduce state financing needs, increase the market values of the renewables and thus create incentives for the expansion. Such a quantity-based protection would also be compatible with the EU power market directive.

At the same time, the ride must be organized by flexible producers and consumers. For this, specific incentives and a rapid implementation of the power plant strategy are necessary, according to Simone Peter.

The following table shows the most important points of the press release:

Table: Summary of the press release

| Topic | Effects | Need for action |
| ——- | ——————————– |
| Purchase of the Tennet electricity network | Due to the federal budget problems, failed | Smart decisions with foresight and a sense of proportion for the location Germany |
| Electricity market design and EEG | Reform necessary | Savings, reduction in energy prices, promoting the expansion of renewable energies |
| Foundation in the current electricity system | Business for household, industry and consumer | Submit a design of a new electricity market design |
| 20-year-old EEG protection | Structural faults | Switch to power -based safety system |
| Price -lowering effect of renewable energies | Business of the federal budget and impairment of the economy of projects | EEG reform to reduce state financing and increase the market values of the renewable |
| High run of flexible producers and consumers | Specific incentives and quick implementation of the power plant strategy necessary | Organization of the boom |
