The EU appointment preview: plenary conference of the European Parliament and meetings of the Council for Social Policy and Economy and Finance

The EU appointment preview provides information about dates and events of the EU Commission, the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Court of Justice, which are of particular importance for Germany. In the coming week there are some important events on the agenda.

On Monday, March 11th, a plenary conference of the European Parliament will take place in Strasbourg. Among other things, the MPs will vote on the revised guideline on the energy efficiency of buildings to which the EU countries and the parliament had agreed at the end of last year. Furthermore, the horizontal cyber security requirements for products with digital elements and the change in the regulation to substantiation and communication are explicitly environmental statements on the agenda. There are also short presentations for liability for faulty products, the European agency for the security of maritime traffic and for implementation and results in the Member States of the 2014-2020 cohesion policy.

In Brussels, a meeting of the Council for Social Policy will take place on Monday and Tuesday. The agenda includes the assumption of legislation on a prescription on transparency and target group orientation in political advertising. Furthermore, there will be a pronunciation about the social agenda as part of the European semester 2024 and a vote on the Council recommendation "A bridge into working life - strengthening the youth guarantee". Information on the status of the current legislative proposals for the European disabled card, the EU talent pool and the guideline about the European works council are also provided.

On Tuesday, EU Commissioner Janez Lenarcic will honor the EU-wide disaster protection at Cologne-Bonn Airport. The Commissioner will appreciate the efforts of the Federal Republic of Germany as part of the disaster protection. The Federal Office for Population Protection and Disaster aid organizes a press event in which other high -ranking politicians from Germany will be present.

In addition, the EU Commissioner Reyrders will speak at an evening event in Berlin on Tuesday. It will be an agenda for Europe's consumers that should be greener and digital. The new EU Commission will be expected to present a consumer agenda for 2025-2030 after the European elections in June 2024.

Furthermore, a background discussion on disinformation with Lutz Güllner will take place in Berlin on Tuesday. The question of how the EU can protect itself against manipulation campaigns from outside is discussed.

On Wednesday, Renke Deckarm from the regional representative of the European Commission in Munich on a political salon on the subject of "Elections in the EU - what does the medium -sized business need?" participate. It is discussed about the framework conditions for entrepreneurial action the EU is setting and which industries have a future.

On Thursday, the European Parliament in Strasbourg will continue its plenary conference. Among other things, there are votes on the protection of commercial property and to change the guideline to reporting obligations in the areas of food and food ingredients.

In Luxembourg, judgments of the European Court of Justice on the topics of tobacco taxes and prepayment earnings from a loan agreement are expected.

The coming week promises many exciting events in the EU that can also have an impact on Germany.
