My neighbor's package has been in my apartment for weeks: a story of unpopular shoe boxes and unfinished handover

My neighbor's package has been in my apartment for weeks: a story of unpopular shoe boxes and unfinished handover

in Berlin there are sometimes strange situations that you can hardly believe. An example of this is the package of a neighbor who has been in my apartment for weeks and is waiting to be picked up. At the beginning I left it in the hallway, but after three days I brought it to my storage room. It has been there for a while now. Every now and then it is pushed a little back and forth, but nothing else happens.

The package messenger asked me at the time whether I could temporarily accept it, since my neighbor sometimes asks other people to accept her packages for her. Of course I agreed, but I also felt obliged to take care of the package promptly. However, this does not seem to be the case with my neighbor. The package is simply left there and nobody seems to worry about it.

I wonder what is probably in the package. Maybe something edible that is slowly moldy? Or maybe something very tasty like a pack of dark chocolate with nut chips? In this case I would like to save the package. But maybe my neighbor will also have to be saved. Should I just put the package in front of your door? However, there is a risk that someone is stealing.

While I think about what to do, the package messenger appears again last week. This time he has a package for me. When I see the second package under his arm, I just think: "Oh no, the other is still lying around here." However, the package messenger shows no understanding and only says: "Oh, come, it lives directly under them." I don't understand what that has to do with the whole thing.

I ask the package messenger to take the old package with me, but he rejects and instead throws a note in my neighbor's mailbox. I also write her a piece of paper and ask her to pick up the package or contact me. It must be possible to make an appointment in the hallway and finally get rid of the package.

While the new package is picked up by its rightful owner on the same day, the old package is still in my storage room and is waiting. Nobody seems to be interested in it. Hopefully my neighbor will report soon and pick up the package so that I will finally get space in my storage room.
