Collect soldiers donations: Meet them at Kurfürstendamm!

Berlin, Deutschland - nag/nag editors -

in Berlin there is currently a special mood, because the soldiers of the 5th company of the guard battalion at the Federal Ministry of Defense are back in use - for a good cause! On several Fridays in November and December 2024, more precisely on November 8th, 22nd, 22nd, 29th and on December 6th and 13th, they collect donations for the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e.V. This campaign will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and is an integral part of the long-standing sponsorship between the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district and the 5th company. District Mayor Kirstin Bauch will take part in the collection campaign in front of the Charlottenburg town hall on December 13th, such as "https://www.berlin.de/ba-charlottenburg-wilmersdorf/aktuelles/Pressemageilungen/2024/Pressemageilung.1501142.php? target = "_ blank" rel = "nofollow noreferer noopener"> berlin.de reported.

The soldiers, in their striking field suits, can be found in prominent places such as the Zoologisches Garden station, the Kurfürstendamm, the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Medical Church, Wittenbergplatz, Fehrbelliner Platz and of course in front of the Charlottenburg town hall. The citizens are cordially invited to support the campaign. From a donation of 10 euros there is even a donation receipt. This initiative is not only an opportunity to do good, but also a sign of solidarity and memory of the victims of past wars.

A look at the war graves

The Volksbund Deutsche Wargräberfürsorge e.V. looks after over 830 war graves in 46 countries worldwide. One of the best known is the Langemark war catering in Belgium, which houses more than 44,000 deaths of the First World War. This site is not only a place of grief, but also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Especially November 10, 1914 is a memorable date on which around 2,000 German soldiers lived their lives in the first Battle of Flanders, which led to the so-called "Langemarck myth". The This collection campaign in Berlin is a significant contribution to the care and maintenance of such memorials that remind us of the horrors of the war and remind us of preserving peace. The support of the population is invaluable and shows that the memory of the fallen still has a high priority in our society.
