Nesting box exhibition in the Wilma shopping center: Nature and species protection up close!

A nesting box exhibition can be viewed until Saturday, May 18, 2024, in the Wilma shopping center in Wilmersdorfer Straße 46. The exhibition is a cooperation between the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf environmental and nature conservation office with the shopping center.

Habitats and nesting opportunities for city birds and bats are becoming increasingly scarce in cities. A simple measure to support the domestic fauna is to attach or build nesting boxes. Children and adolescents in particular can be introduced to the protection of species by handing a nesting box and experience nature directly.

The exhibition presents various types of nesting boxes that are tailored to the needs of the respective bird or bat type. A small insect nesting aid is also presented. QR codes offer further information on the species and instructions on self-construction. The Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf coordination office also introduces a bee suitcase for primary school teachers: on the inside, which can be borrowed. The exhibition is aimed at everyone who is interested in the domestic wildlife and want to promote them through nesting aids.

District City Councilor Oliver Schruoffenger said as follows: "Do it to us! In every garden, on every balcony and in every back yard, such habitats can be created. Many small measures will make the district even more lively and more diverse!"

The exhibition is free and more information is available on the website of the Environment and Nature Conservation Office Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. Visitors of all ages are invited to attend the exhibition and to get involved in the protection of the domestic wildlife.
