New long week of neighborhood history in Berlin: Discover City in Change
from May 25th to June 2, the long week of neighborhood history takes place for the first time in Berlin, which is under the motto "City in Change". The varied program, which is designed by the Working Group of the Berlin Regional Museums (ABR), offers city tours, conversations, bike tours and audio walks to discover Berlin history and to exchange ideas about old and new perspectives in the constantly changing city. All events are free of charge and the program brochure with offers from all districts is available in the Museum Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf in Villa Oppenheim and in many libraries.
As part of the long week of neighborhood history, different tours are offered, which deal with different aspects of Berlin's history. One of these tours, with the title "The Gedengregion Charlottenburg North", explores the Plötzensee memorial as a place of remembrance for the victims of the National Socialist arbitrary justice and the resulting souvenir landscape in Charlottenburg-Nord. Another tour, "the hidden" walking layers "of Wilmersdorf", leads the participants from the town center of the original rural community through the Volkspark and the Wilmersdorf cemetery to the Fehrbelliner Platz. The history of the district is viewed from different perspectives. In addition, a walk with the title "Die Kant"-Kunstext_straße, in which the participants are closer to the Kantstraße get to know.
The Museum Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf in Villa Oppenheim serves as an event location for the long week of neighborhood history. The museum's opening times are Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Sunday and on public holidays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free of charge and access is barrier -free.
