Flag for women: Charlottenburg sets a sign against violence

Flag for women: Charlottenburg sets a sign against violence
Violence against women? A topic that stays in the shade for far too long! For international day against violence on women on 25. November 2024 City Councilor Heike Schmitt Schmelz has the action flag "Berlin says no to violence against women!" with great pride in the Charlottenburg town hall. This is a clear appeal: it is time to break the silence!
Representatives of the district council (BVV) lined up, because a strong sign of the community is needed! This flag is not just a banner, but a symbol of the resistance to the silent abuse of many women who take place in their own four walls. The Berliners are asked to face the topic and talk about it - because this is the only way to change!
a campaign since 2004: for more visibility!
Since 2004 there has been the committed public campaign in Berlin, which aims to raise awareness of the invisible struggles that many women live through every day. This initiative brings light into the dark corners of society, where violence often takes place behind closed doors.
The flag is up to 1. December 2024 high above the town hall - a clear sign that we are all together! It is a call to society to listen, act and support. Every flag that blows out sells a little more silence and brings courage for many affected people.
Together we could achieve more! Let us stand up for every woman to live a life without violence. The city of Berlin takes its responsibility seriously and struggles that violence against women is no longer accepted as a taboo subject!
