Berlin - capital of the scientists: Exhibition opens on Tuesday
The exhibition "Berlin-Capital of the Scientists" will open on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 5 p.m. in the Rathausgalerie (Otto-Suhr-Allee 100, 2. floor) by the Equal Opportunities officer Katrin Lück and the head of the equal opportunities at the Berlin Institute of Health (Charité) Karin Höhne. The exhibition celebrates the women who have always made significant contributions through their work in science and society, but the recognition of which was often denied.
Despite adverse circumstances, stones in the way and a lack of recognition as pioneers, women paved their way for future generations of successful scientists. The exhibition not only recognizes the past, but also the work of some outstanding researchers of the present as an inspiration for the future.
The equality officer Katrin Lück emphasizes the importance of making outstanding women visible in science and praising women's commitment in administration and local politics. The exhibition "Berlin-Capital of the Scientists" is a joint Initiative of the Senate of Berlin and the Berlin Institute of Health and has been seen in various (science) institutions for over a year.
Berlin today can come up with the highest proportion of professors in Germany and houses a total of around 15,000 scientists who shape the city in teaching, research and administration. The exhibition shows portraits of 21 influential scientists and can still be visited until April 30, 2024. Admission is free.
More information about the exhibition and the women that they portray can be found on the website of the Berlin Institute of Health at www.bihealth.org/de/hdw. The exhibition is an opportunity to honor and celebrate the unique contributions of women in science.
