Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht presents itself in Berlin - new party in planning

Berlin - Sahra Wagenknecht, a prominent politician of the left, presented her new political project in Berlin. It is the "Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht", which is initially organized as a club, but serves as preparation for a possible party. Wagenknecht has split off from her previous party, and the party leadership plans to initiate party exclusion procedures against the members of the new alliance.

The step of Wagenknecht is justified by the fact that a political gap needs to be filled, since many of them feel represented by no party. In addition to Wagenknecht, other colleagues have announced for the presentation of the alliance. Among other things, the previous co-chair of the left faction, Amira Mohamed Ali, Wagenknecht's familiar Christian Leye and the entrepreneur Ralph Suika are included

According to an INSA survey, 27 percent of those surveyed in Germany can imagine choosing a Wagenknecht party. However, the left-wing party leadership wants to be hard against the Wagenknecht supporters. Party exclusion procedures are to be initiated and MPs who are involved in the new alliance are asked to put down their mandates. The party leadership also plans a membership offensive and does not see the Wagenknecht alliance as a competition, but expects the new party to position itself in the right spectrum.

The possible start-up could also have an impact on the left parliamentary group, since it then no longer has sufficient MPs for their own faction. Nevertheless, faction leader Dietmar Bartsch emphasizes that the left will not focus on the Wagenknecht alliance, but on dealing with other parties and the political work at local and state level. Die Linke is still represented in the state governments in Thuringia, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Bremen and plans to come back "on the road to success".
