Fire drama in Schönberg: residents evacuated, two houses uninhabitable!

Kärntener Straße, 10407 Berlin, Deutschland - On Tuesday afternoon, a devastating fire broke out in Schönberg, triggered by construction in the roof structure of an apartment building on Carinthia. The fire brigade reached the alarm around 4 p.m. Firefighters from Berlin were able to completely extinguish the fire until 7 p.m., but the situation was dramatic: a 38-year-old resident suffered flue gas poisoning and had to be taken to the hospital.

The alarmed residents were able to get to safety independently. Tragically, the affected buildings and two adjacent apartment buildings are temporarily uninhabitable according to the current status. For the duration of the mission, the Carinthia Straße between Hauptstraße and Gossowstraße was closed until around 0:55, which also impaired local public transport. The fire commissioner of the Berlin State Criminal Police Office has started the investigation into negligent arson.
