Bitkom boss: Digital Minister Conference Important for cross -border institution - Phoenix.de

The general manager of the industry association of the German information and telecommunications industry Bitkom e.V., Bernhard Rohleder, described the digital ministerial conference as a “strong signal”. Although it is initially symbolic, it is important that the digital has its own cross -border institution. The conference should be a strong and audible voice for the digital in the countries.

Rohleder also emphasized positive developments in terms of digitization in Germany. He explained that progress in terms of radio spots and fiber optic expansion were made. Nevertheless, there has been too little willingness to change in Germany so far. Rohleder criticized that schools and administration have seen too little incentive in recent decades to digitize themselves. He emphasized that the political will for digitization must be present and that both the administration and the economy should invest more in digital business models.

In international comparison in digitization, Germany has a long time back. In recent years, however, the situation has improved, especially when it comes to closing radio clads and fiber optic expansion. Nevertheless, there is still a need to catch up with regard to the digitization of schools, administration and business.

In order to illustrate the effects of digitization in Germany, a table with relevant data could be created:

| Area | Current status | There is a need for improvement |
| —————— | —————– | --————— |
| Funkholes | largely closed | |
| Glass fiber expansion | Very good forward | |
| Digitization of schools | Too little willingness to change | |
| Digitization of the administration | Too little willingness to change | |
| Investments in digital business models | Too little | |

Digitization is of great importance for Germany because it offers both economic and social advantages. It is important that the topic is taken seriously at the political level and that the necessary investments are made to make Germany fit for the future as a digital location.
