At this top -class event Federal Environment Minister Steffi Lemke and Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir give the official starting shot. A real stroke of luck is the introductory lecture by Stefan Haensel , Senior Vice President Quality & Sustainability at Lidl International . But that's just the beginning! Around twenty exciting lectures, creative working groups and a gripping panel discussion are on the program, which give international experts: in the industry to give valuable insights into the protection of biodiversity.

The alarming biodiversity crisis, which is considered one of the greatest threats of our time by scientists: the food sector is particularly hard. This crisis cannot be ignored, because only healthy ecosystems can ensure essential services such as the pollination of plants, the cleaning of water and the fertility of the soil. Claas Meineke from Edeka illuminates the dangers of the loss of biodiversity and presents solutions. Another important point is the lecture by Robert Konrad , which addresses the latest legal changes and its effects on the industry.

The expert round is enriched by the impressive contributions by Geert Hartlief from the Molkerenigsossenschaft Dock Kaas, Anna Rechsteiner from GLS Bank and Nicole Ramsebner from the Swiss community of IP Suisse, which present examples of innovative incentive systems for farmers

roles and opportunities of consumers!

Another exciting topic will be the role of consumers: be inside! Lena Pohlmann of Followfood and Maria Julia Oliva from the union for ethical biotrade devoting themselves to this aspect and showing how buyers can actively contribute to rescue the biodiversity inside. They are supported by rolando zamora from the Sustainable Agricultural Network San and rhona perkins from the EU Business & Biodiversity platform that moderate panels on the role of food retail.

In the final panel discussion, the decisive role of certifications is discussed. Standard organizations such as Fairtrade and Global G.A.P. provide information about how you can contribute to the protection of biodiversity and at the same time shed light on the existing challenges.
