Berlin daycare centers experience the health and education offensive 2026!
The Berlin state program “Moving daycare centers – for good, healthy daycare centers” (LggK) will start the next two-year implementation phase in 2026. This program, which has existed for over ten years, aims to combine health and education in daycare centers and thereby improve the quality of life of children. District Councilor for Youth, Family and Health, Christoph Keller, emphasizes the importance of this initiative for the holistic development of children in Berlin. Together with 27 partner institutions, the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family will support the implementation of the program, which already includes 480 daycare centers in all 12 Berlin districts. The program is designed to be participatory, which encourages the active participation of everyone involved. As part of training, two employees from each daycare center are trained to become multipliers, where they receive technical support from qualified process facilitators and coordinators. The daycare centers also have additional materials available to support them in health promotion and prevention. They can also take part in training courses, specialist days and events organized by partner institutions. Interested daycare centers are invited to apply to the district or state coordination by July 31, 2025. beki-qualitaet.de adds that the program particularly aims to improve the quality of the health situation of everyone involved in everyday life.
Berlin educational program as a basis
Another essential part of daycare life in Berlin is the Berlin education program, which forms the basis for early childhood education. The aim is to support children in their talent development and to offer them the optimal conditions for their life. Language support and supporting children in the development of their skills are of central importance. This program distinguishes six educational areas, including health, social and cultural education, and communication and creative development. familienportal.berlin.de has also highlighted that the introduction of the new tool “BeoKiz” for determining language proficiency has already been tested in 50 daycare centers and will be introduced across the board from the 2024/2025 kindergarten year.
By linking educational content and health promotion, the Berlin state program will also provide supportive offers specifically for socially disadvantaged daycare centers. These measures show the targeted orientation of the LggK program, which is intended to benefit both educational professionals and children and their parents. The developments are coordinated and supported by important actors, such as the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family. Information on how to express interest in the program can be found on the Good Healthy Daycare Center website.
