Berlin home visits: Free support for active life in old age in Pankow
in Berlin, people aged 70 in Pankow now have the opportunity to find out free of charge about a new offer, the “Berlin home visits”. This preventive project was launched by the Senate Department for Nursing in cooperation with the district offices and the Maltese relief service. Originally started as a pilot project in two districts in 2021, the concept has now expanded to all of Berlin due to its positive effects on the target group.
Thanks to the commitment of two pilots in Pankow, home visits are now also possible in this district. Interested people aged 70 and over can take them free of charge. Home visits are actively advertised in particular in the Weißensee and Weißensee Ost district regions. Citizens will even receive a letter from the district office in September who draws them attention to the free offer.
The specially qualified employees of the Maltese auxiliary service, Ms. Demuth and Ms. Razzak, plan the home visits individually. You can either take place at home, be advised in a different location of your choice or by phone. The employees help you find suitable information, such as local choirs, senior groups or even age -appropriate housing offers.
If you want to reconcile a home visit, you can easily do this by turning directly to the two pilots. Dates can be arranged from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on 030 348003-253 or by email at bhb.pankow@malteser.org. If necessary, an interpreter is also available to support the meeting.
The project of the “Berlin Haus Visits” offers the older residents of Berlin a great way to find out about the diverse offers for an active life in old age. It is an important step to support social participation and health promotion in old age. With this free service, Berlin again shows his efforts to be an age -friendly city for all residents.
