Since Saturday, new regulations have been in effect in the Berlin outdoor pools: Without presenting an ID card, no admission is possible. This measure has been introduced in the past few weeks due to several violent incidents. However, as a research by the Bild newspaper showed, the regulations are not consistently implemented by the Berlin pool companies.

The bathrooms had already announced on Friday afternoon: "From Saturday, access to the outdoor pools is only possible against presentation of a photo ID. This can be a ID card, a driver's license or a student ID. The document must be shown at the input." But reality looks different.

As the image check showed, the security controls were carried out only superficially in some bathrooms at the weekend. In the Pankow summer pool, for example, two employees kindly asked the guests whether they had glass or knife with them. In the event of a negation, the guests could pass without further control. When entering the Humboldthain summer pool, it was also possible to enter with an online ticket without checking ID. Here, too, the pocket control was neglected.

Only in the Prinzenbad took ID checks, but many guests were also embedded without ID. Nothing was noticeable of a registration. Interestingly, there was a great police presence in front of the Prinzenbad, but this could not guarantee compliance with the new rules.

A lot of police were also present before the summer pool on the islander and the new rules were pointed out. Every visitor had to present a personnel document, but there was no actual registration.

Why the new rules are hardly used and how to deal with guests who have a ban on house is so far unclear. Neither the bathing businesses nor the Senate Department for Internal and Sport have reacted to inquiries.

The new regulations presented by Berlin's ruling Kai Wegner and Senator for the Interior Iris Spranger should serve to demonstrate determination and energy. Visitors should register in advance with the name and address online and show their ID at the entrance. If you want to go to the bathroom spontaneously, you have to bring your ID and will be registered on site. Children need a student ID. In addition, the fences should be increased to make it difficult to climb over. In the Columbiabad and in the Prinzenbad, the entrances should be monitored by video in the future.

It remains to be seen whether and how the new rules will be implemented more consistently in the future. The safety of the bathers should be a top priority.
