Berlin - attack on an Israeli journalist in the middle of Berlin! Reporter Gilad Sade (37) was attacked on Saturday afternoon around 2 p.m. in the Ali Baba restaurant in Berlin-Charlottenburg. Together with the friend Michael Simon de Normier (50) and Sascha Suden (58), the journalist distributed stickers from the "Berlin Welcomes Jews" initiative ("Berlin Welcome") in front of restaurants and shops. Then there was an incredible incident in Bleibtreustrasse. He was to picture: "We were in the restaurant to distribute the stickers. The man stormed towards me. Then he hit my camera and face. Fortunately, I didn't get hurt. I didn't understand what he said, everything went very quickly. An employee of the man had a huge knife in my hand. I was really scared." The police were there within a few minutes. According to the police, the owner of the restaurant had prayed the distribution of the stickers. There was a slide and Sade's camera was damaged. According to the officials, the local operator then led his finger over his own throat - threatened the Israeli. "I am currently in Germany to make a film - 85 years after the Reichspogromnacht," said Sade to BILD. "I have never been attacked. Simon de Normier (50), companion of the reporter, after the attack on BILD: "I met Gilad a year ago on a project in Auschwitz and invited him to Berlin. I never thought that something like this happened here. I was horrified." Sascha Suden (58) is also shocked: "The project was my idea because I see how much it is needed. Jewish life should become more visible again." The police are investigating the crime. During the Pro-Palestinian demo under the motto "Decolonize Human Rights" in Berlin-Kreuzberg, a reporter was threatened by a demonstrator with death in the late Saturday afternoon-arrest!
As a citizen of Berlin, I am horrified by the attack on the Israeli journalist. It can be seen worrying that something like that happened in our city. Berlin is a diverse and tolerant city in which any form of violence or discrimination should be condemned. This incident is not only worrying for the security of the Jewish community in Berlin, but also for the reputation of our city. It is important that the perpetrators are held accountable and the authorities take measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
