Afrikacup Berlin 2025: A festival of diversity on July 12th in the Rehberge!

On July 12, 2025, the Africa Cup 2025 will take place in the Rehberge stadium in Berlin, which already third tournament of this kind. The 18-year-old Noah Schmitt, who is afraid German origin and has comoric roots, is the main organizer of this important event. His idea for the AfricaCup came up after an inspiring experience at a benefit tournament in Frankfurt, which he saw at the age of 15. In his function as an organizer, he managed to create an event that combines cultural identity and sporting competition.

As early as 2024, over 3,000 people took part in the tournament. Schmitt reached over 20,000 people with an Instagram post and organized the first event as a 16-year-old, in which the expected 400 participants could ultimately be mobilized 1,300 athletes: inside. The aim of the Africa Cup is to celebrate the cultural diversity of the African diaspora in Germany and to act as an open forum for exchange and identity. The tournament is open to everyone, regardless of their origin.

The event is organized by Afrogermany in cooperation with Narud e.V. and has set itself the goal of setting a strong sign of diversity, integration and empowerment. Schmitt also sees the AfricaCup in response to challenges such as identity issues and racism, which he knows from his own experience. The event is supported by an extensive supporting program that includes music, dance, culinary delights and political statements. Special highlights will be international live acts, with performances by artists such as Sosa La M and Yc.

Compared to the previous tournaments, the number of participants is reduced from twelve to eight teams. Nevertheless, the teams will be consisting of various African communities and reflect the diverse legacy of African presence in Germany. Schmitt identified Angola as a favorite for the tournament victory and hopes to enable talent scouting for young players during the event.

Culinary diversity and cultural integration

Another special aspect of the AfricaCup is the culinary offer. In addition to German specialties such as Königsberger Klopsen, African food, such as Jollof rice, is also offered. Any visitors are invited to immerse yourself in the culinary traditions of various African countries and to experience the cultural diversity. The place itself, the African district in Berlin-Wedding, acts as a symbol of Afro-German history and roots the event in a rich cultural context.

The importance of the AfricaCup extends beyond sport. It is used as cultural spaces for empowerment and gives under -represented people of African origin a voice. The event is in the historical connection with the long -term African presence in Germany, which goes back to the 19th century. The Africa district becomes not only a venue, but also a lively expression of the cultural identities that are of central importance for the diaspora.
