25th half marathon in Reinickendorf: sunny races with exciting finish!
On Sunday, September 1st, the 25th half marathon took place in Reinickendorf and transformed the streets of the northeast of Berlin into an unprecedented sports arena. In bright sunshine and high commitment, the participants competed against each other on different lengths, cheered on by district mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner, who gave the starting shot at the Reinickendorf town hall.
The running festival attracted runners from all over the world, who could measure themselves in the 5.6 km stroll as well as in the demanding 21 km long distance. Emine Demirbüken-Wegner praised the organizers for their tireless commitment to organize this fabulous sporting event in the fox district for a quarter of a century.
An impressive performance showed Tom Thurley from the Potsdam Laufclub, who crossed the finish line as the fastest runner with a time of 1:06:20. The performance of Franziska Bernhard from Zeppelin Team OSC Potsdam, who mastered the half marathon distance for women with a time of 1:23:55.
Special recognition also earned the oldest participant in the race, the 77-year-old Konrad Beyer from TuS Neukölln. Despite his age, he demonstrated impressive perseverance and completed the route in 2:31:48 hours.
The anniversary of the half marathon in Reinickendorf was not only a sporting event, but also a festival of the common passion for running. The participants have shown that perseverance, willpower and enthusiasm for sport know no age limits. We can look forward to the coming year when the running festival recovers the streets of Reinickendorf. It was a real sport day full of cheers and exciting competitions.
