Two million euros for the renovation of the Leag Energy stadium!

The future of the Leag Energy Stadium in Cottbus looks promising thanks to significant financial support from the State of Brandenburg. On June 20, 2025, the Brandenburg state parliament passed the double budget for 2025 and 2026, within the framework of which a total of two million euros was decided for the renovation of the stadium. This reports rbb24 .

In addition to the funds provided, the city of Cottbus provided 500,000 euros for the repair of the training area on Parcelstrasse. This decision was made by the city council, with Mayor Tobias Schick and Mayor Marietta Tzschoppe being praised for her commitment. FCE President Sebastian Lemke was grateful for the support, but emphasized that the funds provided will not be enough to make the stadium fit for professional football.

renovation and future prospects

The project plans provide for a comprehensive concept study to modernize the stadium. This is developed as part of the strong funding program, which was already approved by the Lausitz (WRL) economic region in January. The Club Energie Cottbus had last fought for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the season, but failed narrowly due to the relegation. The renewal measures are therefore crucial to strengthen the competitiveness of the association.

The state government also launched a large funding program, called the "Golden Plan Brandenburg". This program should support the construction and the renovation of sports facilities by the end of 2024 with a total of 25 million euros. According to Brandenburg's Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport , the "Golden Plan" puts the "Golden Plan" on a voluntary basis and also enables financial support at Modernizations, basic repairs and the barrier -free expansion of sports facilities.

The funding provided can cover up to 80 percent of the total costs, which is enormous relief for the clubs. The State Sports Association Brandenburg e. V. (LSB) is responsible for the application test and the award. Advantages must be submitted by May 1st of each year in order to benefit from the funding.
