The latest figures for the real estate market in Germany shock and surprise! In the 2nd quarter of 2024, the price index for residential properties fell by 2.6 % compared to the previous year. Particularly exciting price trends can be followed in the big cities. In Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Co., the prices for apartments are 1.6 % and for single -family houses even increased by 2.3 % compared to the first quarter of 2024. But be careful! Compared to the previous year, apartments in these metropolises are still 1.5 % cheaper, while buyers even had to pay 4 % less for single -family houses.

As far as apartments are concerned, we have a decrease of 3 % to the previous quarter and 6.5 % for the previous year's quarter. A reason to celebrate looks different!

The latest calculations not only bring fresh numbers, they have also revised the values from 2011 to 2023. The revised data show a small but significant difference of -0.1 % to the change rate of the previous year 2023, which is now -8.5 %. Also in 2022 had to be readjusted.
