Week of the decisions: EU Parliament discusses Ukraine aid package and media freedom
This week Brussels becomes a focus on major political events! From October 14th to 20th, there are explosive topics on the agenda of the European Parliament, which can decisively influence the future of Europe. While the MPs are preparing, this week could mean a course for the EU!
With an impressive financial aid package for the Ukraine in the luggage drawn by war, the approval of the MPs could set a sign of solidarity that radiates far beyond the borders of Europe
Financial aid and strengthening Ukraine
The MPs of the Committee on International Trade (Inta) are faced with a comprehensive financial aid package for Ukraine. This support consists of a groundbreaking mechanism for loans of up to 45 billion euros and a special macrofinance aid loan of up to 35 billion euros! These measures are intended to help Ukraine to assert themselves and rebuild in these dramatic times.
The special thing? The financing uses the extraordinary profits from disused Russian assets! This shows that Europe not only does big words, but also follows massive financial acts. Be there when the livestream on 14. October from 3:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. starts!
important decisions in the plenum
Politics don't stop! From 21. The plenum will open its doors until October 24th. Here the topics are hotly discussed again: The financial aid package for Ukraine could increase to up to 80 billion euros, and the MPs also have an eye on the EU budget in 2025! The burning questions regarding the rule of law in Malta and the controversial abortion law in Poland are also on the agenda-a real political fireworks can be expected here!
but also internationally it will be exciting, because on 17./18. October will speak EP President Roberta Metsola on the European Council! Your list of topics is long: the situation in Ukraine, the tense conditions in the Middle East and the question of migration - it will not be bored for a second!
Furthermore, on 23. October The award of the Daphne-Caruana Galizia Prize for journalism takes place-an event that will electrify journalists and media friends alike. Here the inheritance and the importance of free press is recognized! Visitors are cordially invited to take part in the "Protection of Media Freedom" press seminar and thus become part of this important discussion.
