The leader of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, pursues an imperialist agenda that undermines belief in the integrity of sovereign states. His tactics are said to fuel fears in the European public and endanger stability. The use of fake videos and misleading websites, through so -called troll armies, is only part of his arsenal in methods for destabilization.

But why should the German public take these mechanisms seriously? The dealing with these disinformation campaigns is crucial for maintaining a "defensive democracy". Every citizen - be it as a television viewer, newspaper reader or user of social networks - is required to critically question whether statements from politics serve the interests of the Kremlin.
