From the Friedenstheaterbühne to reality: a look at the world situation
It is a scenario of a nightmare: the world celebrates peace while the bombs fall on every corners! Last Friday, the Nobel Committee in Oslo announced that the Japanese organization Nihon Hidankyo received the Nobel Peace Prize. A big moment? Hardly if you look at reality!
astonishing that in a year in which the bombs detonate in the Middle East, the tanks roll in Ukraine and a bloody civil war rages in Yemen, which are to be crowned by Nobel celebrations for peace. In Stockholm the red carpet is rolled out, the guests ray in royal flair and a juicy price of one million euros is waiting for the award winner - while on the other side of the world the war is raging!
a prize in an illusionary world
undoubtedly deserves respect for their tireless efforts. But does not have to be questioned at this point whether there should really be a Nobel Peace Prize in such a chaotic world? The western peace regulations are on the abyss! The EU, which was even awarded the Nobel Prize in 2012, is powerless in the Middle East conflict. The United Nations? Like a shadow of itself. And while the USA withdraws into an "America First" trauma, the world wonders when the illusion will break and the next headlight falls from the sky and smashed on the red carpet.
Reality is relentless: terrorist attacks, kidnapped and murdered Israelis, and tens of thousands of civilians in the Gaza Strip. The risk of escalation between Israel and Iran has reached a threatening highlight. Peace efforts? They fail live in front of the eyes of a powerful global community. And in the meantime, Russia remains true to its imperial ambitions, ready for one language: that of violence.
The bitter truths of our time
The times of "peace for everyone" are over. Stability is the new magic word! We need to rethink in geopolitics: limit conflicts regionally, lead negotiations between warring parties and at the same time reduce violence to a minimum. Ironically, that could mean that we need more and no less weapons! Ducking off is not a taboo - it is currently an indispensable strategy to protect our security.
One thing is clear: In contrast to Truman Burank, who can free himself from the staging at the end of his film, the world does not live in a dream. The reality is hard and often relentless. There is no glittering finale, not a happy ending - only the brooding truth of a world that really has to suffer. Hurray for peace? Just a show that will soon end!
in the real world, surrounded by terror and chaos, the question remains: When does the western world finally wake up? The curtain has fallen, the show is over!
