Vernissage on Jewish persecution in Neukölln: Exhibition opens up series of events against anti -Semitism

On Friday, September 6, 2024, the impressive vernissage for the exhibition "expelled and persecuted" took place in the Kurt-Löwenstein-Haus in Berlin. This event marked the start of an important series on the subject of "anti -Semitism in Neukölln", which was launched by the district office. The exhibition addresses the abuse and persecution of young Jewish people from 1933 and is intended to commemorate the terrible events that took place during the National Socialist rule in Neukölln.

The multi -semester series of events "Anti -Semitism in Neukölln", organized by the Volkshochschule Neukölln, will commemorate victims through exhibitions, lectures, city tours and workshops and deal with the roots and forms of expression of anti -Semitism in Neukölln.

The vernissage for the exhibition "Exured and followed" focused on the experiences and fates of children, adolescents and young adults from Neukölln, who were discriminated against by the National Socialists because of their Jewish origin. The exhibition urgently shows how these people were increasingly excluded from 1933 and finally deported to concentration camps like Auschwitz, where many of them lost their lives.

Education City Councilor Karin Korte opened the exhibition, which was designed by the Museum Neukölln. It illustrates the cruel reality of persecution and discrimination that many innocent people had to suffer during National Socialism. The exhibition can be viewed in the Kurt Löwenstein House until November 30, 2024, admission is free and a prior registration is not required.

The "Anti -Semitism in Neukölln" series will also offer a variety of events in the coming weeks. Among other things, lectures, city tours, workshops and action days are planned to raise awareness of the history of anti -Semitism and to set a sign against any form of hatred and discrimination.

Interested visitors can find out about the individual events on the website of the Neukölln adult education center and also register for participation. The events are free and offer an important opportunity to deal with the dark past and to stand up for a tolerant and open society.
