Verkehrschaos threatens: holiday construction site A111 closed longer than planned
Due to the heavy rain in the past few days, there are delays at the holiday construction site on the A111 motorway. The construction work between the Stolpe and Waidmannsluster Damm junctions now last a week longer than planned and should not be completed until the morning of September 4th. The Berlin traffic information center (VIZ) announced this information on Thursday morning.
During this time there is only one lane available in both directions that has a maximum track width of three meters. The limited traffic routing is expected to ensure traffic jams and longer travel times on the A111.
In addition to the limited traffic routing, there will be two full closures. From Friday, August 25th, from 8 p.m. to Monday, August 28, 5 a.m., the highway will be completely closed. Furthermore, a full closure for the period of Saturday, September 2, from 8 a.m. to Monday, 4th September, 5 a.m.
Furthermore, the Schulzendorfer Straße entry and exit remains closed in the direction of Oranienburg until August 25th.
The Autobahngesellschaft recommends that local people should use the diversion via Hennigsdorf and Heiligensee in order to bypass the affected area in a large scale. Due to the expected high traffic volume, considerable traffic disruptions can be expected.
It is strongly recommended to take this information into account when planning trips in order to avoid time delays and traffic jams.
