ver.di appeals to Federal Chancellor Scholz to support European supply chain directive
A few days ago it was announced that Chancellor Olaf Scholz, together with the responsible cabinet members, will make the final decision on the Federal Government's attitude to the European supply chain directive. This decision is of great importance for many Berlin citizens because it could have a direct impact on the working conditions along supply chains worldwide. The United Service Union (ver.di) urgently appeals to the federal government to adhere to the approval of the directive and not be influenced by the FDP.In recent years there have been numerous protests by activists in Berlin who have campaigned for binding, EU-wide rules for diligent duties along supply chains. These activists have repeatedly emphasized that volunteers are not sufficient for companies in order to ensure humane working conditions along the supply chains. The introduction of a European supply chain guideline is therefore considered overdue by many citizens in Berlin and all of Germany.
As a citizen of Berlin, the appeal of ver.di is therefore supported to Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz to maintain approval for the supply chain directive. This guideline would be an important step to oblige companies along supply chains to take responsibility for working conditions. It is important to ensure the same competitive conditions in Europe and to strengthen human rights globally.
It remains to be seen how the decision of the Federal Government will be and what influence this will have on the working conditions along supply chains. Citizens in Berlin will pursue further development and hope for a positive decision in favor of decent working conditions worldwide.
Table:
| EU-wide supply chain guideline | Effects |
| ——————————- | ————– |

| Creates the same competitive conditions in Europe | Strengthening human rights global |
