Severe weather warning: heavy rain and thunderstorms at the weekend - bathing excursions in danger
The German Weather Service (DWD) announced in its current prediction that the weekend will be accompanied by a lot of precipitation. So if you have planned a bathing excursion, you should possibly refrain from driving to the lake. This information applies not only to Berlin and Brandenburg, but also to the rest of the Republic.
The reason for the inconsistent weather is the deep “venture” with its center near Scotland, which is currently influencing the weather in Germany. It leads moderately warm and very moist Atlantic air to Germany, which can always lead to strong showers and thunderstorms. There is a risk of heavy rain, which can lead to smaller floods in a short time.
On Saturday morning, thunderstorms in the Berlin/Brandenburg region caused little damage. There were 13 missions, mainly in the Barnim district. Trees have fallen over and basements were flooded. There were no major weather -related missions in other parts of Brandenburg.
For Saturday afternoon, the DWD has published severe weather warnings, especially for the south and southwest of Germany. There is partly with strong thunderstorms and strong showers. Local storms are also possible in the east. The temperatures range between 20 and 27 degrees and it becomes partially depressed.
On Sunday, the night of Sunday in southern foreland and on the Alps, heavy rain for several hours can occur. In the southeast, strong thunderstorms with heavy rain and gusts of wind are possible, in the northwest individual thunderstorms with stormy gusts.
For cities such as Kiel, Münster, Bremen, Hamburg, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main, Erfurt, Hanover, Berlin, Cottbus, Dresden, Fichtelberg, Leipzig, Frankfurt/Oder, Gera, Potsdam, Rheinstetten, Munich, Augsburg, Stötten, Stuttgart, Konstanz and Freiburg are expected on Saturday.
It is important to note that thunderstorms are often inaccurate, since thunderstorms are very locally and difficult to predict. Therefore, the predictions can change during the day.
