Surprising sighting near Berlin: A kangaroo in Brandenburg causes a stir - can these animals survive in Germany?

Wildes Brandenburg: After the supposed Löwin, an exotic animal near Berlin was filmed again. This time it really shouldn't be a wild boar.

A few weeks after the supposed Löwin, an animal has been spotted again in Brandenburg that actually does not belong there. A man named Dominik Perplies apparently filmed a kangaroo in a field in the Barnim district near Berlin. Perplies sent the video to the radio station Fritz, who, like the RBB, reports on the sighting.

Perplies apparently drives over a field on a tractor when the animal notices. The animal initially sits motionless and stares towards the filming Perplies. "Is that really a kangaroo?" Says the man. A short time later, this seems to be confirmed. When Perplies drives closer to the animal, it jumps away as only a kangaroo can. "It is getting more and more curious," says Perplies and continues.

According to RBB, the time and place of recording have not yet been verified. The police did not confirm the sighting.

Can kangaroos survive in Germany?

Derk Ehlert, wild animal expert of the Berlin Senate, gave the RBB to the video to the RBB. "In fact, in this case it really looks like a kangaroo," he told the broadcaster. He taps on a copy of the Racknack Wallabies. According to Ehlert, these animals are not native to this country, but should be kept. So it could happen that animals can be büxen.

In his opinion, the behavior of the animal on the video suggests that it has been living in the wild for a long time. Only recently torn kangaroos are people less shy. In his opinion, kangaroos may even have chances of survival in Germany in the wild. However, the prerequisite for this is that winter is not getting too cold.
