This is not the first incident of this kind in the region. In 2021, a similar case was found on an approximately 200 year old oak nearby. In August 2013, a 100-year-old linden tree was also killed in the same place by a similar method. Both trees had to be felled. The series of tree damage in this area is alarming and raises questions about the protection and safety of trees in the city.

trees play an important role in the cityscape and are the living space of many animals. They contribute to improving air quality and are an important part of the urban ecosystem. The district councilor Dr. Claudia Leistner was concerned about the willful damage to the tree and emphasized the importance of tree protection for the local ecosystem.

Anyone who has indications of the perpetrators or suspicious behavior is asked to report to the police or the street and green space office. It is important to report such incidents to ensure the safety and protection of the trees in the city. Here are the contact details for further information:

| Year | Type of damage | Tree species | Location |
| —— | ——————- | ——— | ——— |
| 2024 | Bohrloch in the rootstock | Linde | Regattastraße No. 158, Grünau |
| 2021 | Bohrloch at the stem foot with a solvent smell | Oak | Regattastraße 151-158, Grünau |
| 2013 | Drilling and injection toxic liquid | Linde | Regattastraße No. 158, Grünau |

It remains to be hoped that those responsible for this unscrupulous act will be held accountable and that measures are taken to better protect and preserve the trees in the region.
