District libraries in Berlin: New opening times from June

Marco Brauchmann, Bezirksstadtrat für Weiterbildung, Schule, Kultur und Sport, gibt bekannt, dass ab dem 3. Juni 2024 die Stadtteilbibliothek Friedrichshagen wieder zum regulären Betrieb übergehen wird. Nach einer Zeit der Einschränkungen aufgrund von Personalengpässen wird das Bibliothekspersonal wieder von Montag bis Freitag von 14 bis 19 Uhr vor Ort sein, um den Besuchern alle Dienstleistungen in gewohnter Qualität anzubieten. Im Gegensatz dazu wird die Stadtteilbibliothek Altglienicke aufgrund von offenen Stellen ihre Öffnungszeiten im Juni vorübergehend reduzieren müssen. Neben dem Mittwoch wird die Bibliothek auch am Freitag geschlossen bleiben. An den restlichen Tagen wird sie von 10 bis 16 Uhr (Montag) …

In contrast, the district library Altglienicke will temporarily reduce its opening hours in June due to vacancies. In addition to Wednesday, the library will also remain closed on Friday. It will be open on the remaining days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Monday) and from 12 noon to 6 p.m. (Tuesday and Thursday).

These changes can have an impact for the users of the libraries in the respective districts. While a full service is offered again in Friedrichshagen, visitors to the Altglienicke district library have to cope with reduced opening times.

It is important that the citizens understand the temporary restrictions in Altglienicke until the vacancies are filled and the regular opening times can be restored.
