New artwork Kosmo on June 21, 2024 unveiled

Am Freitag, den 21. Juni 2024, wird ein neues Kunstwerk und eine Ladenpassage an der Schönefelder Chaussee im Kosmosviertel eingeweiht. Das Quartiersmanagement, gemeinsam mit Anwohnern, Gewerbetreibenden, Frau Bezirksstadträtin Claudia Leistner und dem Künstler, wird ab 15 Uhr die feierliche Eröffnung vornehmen. Es wird Musik, Mitmach-Aktionen und sommerliche Erfrischungen geben. Das Kunstwerk namens „Kosmo“ wird vom 4. bis 6. Juni 2024 eingebaut. Die Stahl-Skulptur mit graffitiabweisender Oberfläche wurde von Jens Reinert entworfen und ist inspiriert von der futuristischen Architektur der 1950er und 1960er Jahre sowie Design aus der Popkultur. On Friday, June 21, 2024, a new work of art and a shop passage on the Schönefeld Chaussee in the Kosmosviertel will be inaugurated. On Friday, June 21, 2024, a new work of art and a shop passage at the Schönefeld Chaussee in the Kosmosviertel will be inaugurated. The neighborhood management, together with residents, traders, district councilor Claudia Leistner and the artist, will open the opening from 3 p.m. There will be music, hands-on actions and summer refreshments.

The work of art called "Kosmo" is installed from June June 6, 2024. The steel sculpture with a graffiti-repellent surface was designed by Jens Reinert and is inspired by the futuristic architecture of the 1950s and 1960s as well as design from pop culture. The residents of the Kosmosviertel are invited to enjoy the sunset over the landscape park together with the sculpture.

The “Art on Construction” competition was organized by the cultural office and financed by means of the “Future Stadtgrün” urban development program of the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living. The green area qualification is implemented by the street and green space office.

The Kosmosviertel in Berlin is known for its diverse architecture and life culture. The integration of the new work of art will surely enrich the urban environment and offer the residents and visitors of the quarter another attraction.
