Hilde-Archenhold Bridge: New connection for Adlershof's future and security

Hilde-Archenhold Bridge: New connection for Adlershof's future and security
Such a monumental building is now a reality! The new Hilde Archenhold Bridge in Berlin-Adlershof was inaugurated and thus opened the gates to a safer and attractive habitat. Senator Christian Gaebler, Senator Ute Bonde and district mayor Oliver Igel were on site to present this architectural masterpiece to the public.
This unique foot and cycle path bridge spans the train systems of the Deutsche Bahn and the busy eagle frame. It represents a significant part of the 9-60 development plan, which has an innovative redesign of the track lens at the former Schöneweide marshalling yard. The old town center of Adlershof is finally connected to the science park - a real step into the future, which also creates safer school routes for the little ones!
a bridge with importance
But that's not all! The Hilde Archenhold Bridge is not just a simple traffic connection-it is a symbol! During the ceremony, even students from the Archenhold Gymnasium were present to honor the naming. Hilde Archenhold and her mother Alice were cruelly deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp during the Nazi regime and lost their lives there. This bridge is a memory of the past and a sign of hope for the future!
"The new Hilde Archenhold Bridge finally offers citizens more traffic safety and quality of life," enthused Gaebler at the opening. He emphasized that the bridge overcomes the gap between the two districts and bring the community closer together. In an area that was previously known for its traffic density and uncertainties, foot and bicycle traffic is now significantly relieved.
Also Ute Bonde, Senator of Mobility, makes it clear: "Here we have an environmentally friendly solution that not only improves the infrastructure, but also revolutionizes access to the Adlershof technology park. A bridge made of pure aluminum - there has never been something like that in Berlin! This innovative connection could become a new symbol for the future -oriented location of Berlin."
north-south connection for all
The bridge extends over remarkable 78 meters and is the first of its kind in the city. During the two -year construction period, not only the bridge itself, but also five other buildings and redesigned ramps were built. The creation of 1,800 m² of green space and planting 52 trees are the successful compensation measures for nature.
A total of 1,200 meters of new foot and cycle paths were completed: 560 meters from Wagner-Régeny-Straße to the eagle frame, an additional 440 meter paved bike path through the allotment garden system Sonnenallee and final 200 meters in parallel to the eagle frame to the Neltestrasse-this is not only impressive, but also urgently necessary to ensure mobility in the region.
"This is more than a structural connection," adds Oliver Igel, the district mayor of Treptow-Köpenick. "The Hilde Archenhold Bridge bridges not only architectural distances between the modern and historical Adlershof, but also between our eventful past and the climate-friendly future that we shape together!"
The Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living team worked tirelessly on this project together with the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment. Under the direction of the Wista development agency, a well -thought -out reality was created, which does justice to both the hearts of the residents and nature.
