Celebrate! Altglienicke is 650 years old - the anniversary festival!

Altglienicke, a district in the southeast of Berlin, faces a special event: the 650th anniversary of the first documentary mention, which was documented in 1375 as "Glinik". From July 4th to 6th, 2025, the celebrations will be in full swing that attract locals and visitors alike.

The central festival takes place around the Altglienick parish church in the town center. A varied program is offered on three live stages, especially at the locations in the parish church of Semmelweisstrasse, the parking lot on the Köpenick corner of Rudower Straße and the net parking lot on Köpenicker Straße. A blocking for traffic is set up on the old Schönefelder Weg to create space for a street festival with numerous stands and a history exhibition.

The festival will start on Friday, July 4, at 6 p.m. with an official opening in the parish church. District Mayor Oliver Igel will be present and award awards to volunteers. From Friday to Sunday, the festival visitors can expect various programs, including a market of possibilities on Saturday, which is designed by local clubs and initiatives, as well as numerous children's and youth offers on the sports field of VSG Altglienicke, including bouncy castles and goal wall shooting.

A special highlight is the exhibition that traces the history of the Altglienic Sport, from the beginnings of MTV Spieß 1883 to today's VSG Altglienicke. The Saturday evening is finished with a light tillum on the church tower at 10 p.m. On Sunday, July 6th, there will be an open-air service at the parish church at 10 a.m. The subsequent parade starts at 2 p.m. on Venusstraße and ends around 3 p.m. at the parish church, where a greeting from the ruling mayor Kai Wegner is expected.

Support for the anniversary festival also comes from the Lotto Foundation Berlin, which has provided 130,000 euros for the financing so that the festival committee "650 years old glienicke" can offer a wide range of events.
