Author reading: Graphic Novel about Stefan Heym on May 24th in Köpenick
On Friday, May 24, 2024, the focus library at the Alten Markt in Köpenick invites you to present the graphic novel "The Seven Life of Stefan Heym". The authors Gerald Richter and illustrator Marian Kretschmer present the eventful life story of the important German writer and politician Stefan Heym (1913-2001) in expressive pictures and with many O tones. The graphic novel illustrates the events of the 20th century and illustrates how origin, social developments, crises and wars have shaped Heym's life and how he reacted to it.
Stefan Heym, born as Helmut Flieg in Chemnitz, was a versatile intellectual and a controversial personality. He was not only a writer, but also politically active and was committed to the Nazi regime. His works often reflected political and social issues and he fought for freedom of expression and democracy throughout his life.
The graphic novel "The Seven Life of Stefan Heym" offers young people and adults a touching time document and encourages you to deal with the challenges of crises and wars in the present. The life path of Heyms can provide creative suggestions to recognize opportunities for participation and engagement.
The evening of the performance promises a richly illustrated lecture that documents the development process of the graphic novel from the image idea to the finished book page. Backgrounds for the CV HEYMS are presented, poems and excerpts from his novels read and insight into the work of the authors with young people in workshops around Stefan Heym.
Admission to the event is free, but a prior registration is requested on 030/90297-3418 or by email at Stadtbibliothek-alternmarktkoepenick@ba-tk.berlin.de.
