Photographer, director, protagonist: discussion about war and flight
insight into the life of Ukrainian refugees in Berlin
The event “How far is close” offered a fascinating insight into the life of Ukrainian women who fled from the Russian War and are now looking for refuge in Germany. The film, which celebrated its premiere at the Cottbus Film Festival in November 2023, tells the moving story of Inga, who has lived in Berlin for 13 years and is now fleeing her mother.
The challenges and experiences of the refugees
Following the film screening, Oleksandra Bienert, photographer and human rights activist, had a conversation with the director Inga Pylypchuk and the protagonist of the photo exhibition, Tetyana Chuprina. They not only discussed the film itself, but also about the current challenges with which refugee women from Ukraine are confronted. How does Jobturbo influence her life in practice? And how is women doing today, two years after the invasion of their home country?
different perspectives and emotional insights
The conversation took place in German and Ukrainian with translation to ensure that all participants had the opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings in their mother tongue. The event created a platform for sharing experiences, understanding different perspectives and creating empathy for the situation of the refugees.
