Fair run in Akacienkiez: Discover the world of fair trade!
On September 13, 2024, the highly expected fair run took place in the Akacienkiez. This event, which was organized as part of the nationwide fair week, was launched by the Tempelhof-Schöneberg business development agency in cooperation with the Fair Handel Action Alliance. District Mayor Jörn Oltmann opened the celebrations and emphasized the importance of fair trade for the district. The event attracted numerous residents and guests who took the opportunity to discover new favorite shops that are committed to fair trade.
The participants of the fair run had the opportunity to look behind the scenes of three sustainable retail stores, which represent responsible business with products such as fashion and chocolate in the neighborhood. After Oltmann's speech and an inspiring lecture by Laura Jäger, project manager of the campaign alliance, the Berlin fashion label UVR Berlin provided insights into his sustainable corporate philosophy and the transparency of his supply chain. The tour then led to the child -friendly boutique "Klix - Little things" before the participants in the chocolaterie Estrellas came into talking during a tasting of fair chocolate.
fair trade in focus
"The fair run shows how lively and diverse the fair trade in Tempelhof-Schöneberg is. We want to not only strengthen awareness of sustainable consumption, but also to offer the many committed retailers who are committed to fair working conditions and just production processes," emphasized district mayor Jörn Oltmann.
The fair run, which runs until September 27, 2024, is aimed at all residents and visitors who want to explore fair and sustainable opportunities in their neighborhood. Different stations invite you to discover: Fair fashion, biological food and fair trade products are the focus. At each station, the participants receive a sticker for their fair pass, and from four stickers collected there is a little surprise. This initiative should not only promote fair trade, but also raise awareness of sustainable business in the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district.
