Discover the new VHS program: Learning, courses and sustainability!
At the beginning of September, the new semester started at the Volkshochschule (VHS) Tempelhof-Schöneberg. Students and interested parties expect more than 1100 courses to cover a wide range of topics. The offer is particularly exciting in the old malt shop in Lichtenrade, where 170 courses take place. Details of all learning locations and courses can be found on the VHS website.
The VHS brings a breath of fresh air through new programs, including excellent 3D printing courses , which were developed in cooperation with the Theodor Heuss library. The topic of sustainability is a central part of the offer: from sustainable gardening to repair and upcycling courses, the VHS offers a wide range of opportunities to deal with future-proof concepts. Examples of this are the courses "sustainability strategies in companies - from the idea for implementation" and "future of work - work innovatively: sustainable and sustainable".
Innovations in the speech and integration area
A highlight in the language area is the new beginner course for Korean, which means that the VHS now has a total of 13 foreign languages in its program. Furthermore, free courses in Farsi and Ukrainian are offered for volunteers. This shows the commitment of the VHS to meet the diverse needs of the local community.
Another innovative offer is the German courses in the family hangar of the shared accommodation at Tempelhof Airport. These courses are particularly aimed at women who have not offered access to external offers at the moment. Childcare is also provided to support, an important step towards better reconciling education and family.
In addition, there is an open learning workshop for reading and writing . This initiative, coordinated with the AWO, is specially intended for adults who need support in the field of reading and writing skills. A weekly course on the Barbarossaplatz also offers help for non-mother-language citizens who are already in good care of everyday life, but have difficulties when reading and writing.
The VHS also participates in the “Erw.in” project ( adult education inclusive ). This special offer is aimed at people with cognitive restrictions and enables learning in simple language and slower pace. The full program can be viewed in the newly published Erw.in booklet or on the VHS website.
A number of short workshops are planned for the coming months in cooperation with the consumer center. These workshops cover exciting topics, including "Modern heating technology in comparison", "Warranty rights in the purchase contract", "Permanent pension for migrants" and "fake shops on the Internet". It is a great opportunity to continue your education and get useful tips.
If you want to find out whether a course fits you, on September 14, 2024, the option of participating in free VHS taster courses and numerous hands-on activities as part of the cultural summer festival. There are plenty of offers for all ages and interests here.
